  • Students will be able to identify (give examples, provide reasoning based on function) input and output devices and how they relate to computer control.
  • Students will define: Data, Input (device), Output (device), processing, computer

2. Lecture on Input/output devices

3. PowerPoint Activity on Input/Output Devices

Warm up: (

1. Write about 1 or 2 experiences that were especially memorable to you this past Christmas break. What happened? Why were they memorable? Who was there? What did you do? Be descriptive. 2 Paragraphs for an UP stamp.
2. How would you describe what a COMPUTER does to a kid who has never used a computer before? 2 Paragraphs for an UP stamp.

After listening to the lecture, create a powerpoint like the one shown here:
Choose 6 devices from the list below. You may use your own examples as well.

For each slide include:
1. A picture of the device
2. The Device name
3. Label whether it is an INPUT or an OUTPUT device.
4. A brief (2 sentence) description of the device's function (How does it work as an INPUT or OUTPUT device)
